F1 Moves Canadian Grand Prix to May from 2026 in Calendar Restructure
The Canadian Grand Prix will shift from its traditional June slot to late May starting in 2026, as Formula 1 continues its efforts to optimize the racing calendar and reduce its carbon footprint.

This strategic move will pair the Canadian GP with the Miami race, creating a more consolidated North American segment before the European season begins. The change eliminates an extra transatlantic crossing, significantly reducing the sport's carbon emissions.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali praised the Montreal organizers for accommodating this change, acknowledging the challenges of preparing the circuit earlier in the year due to local weather conditions. The move aligns with F1's commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030.
Race promoter Octane Racing Group sees additional benefits, with CEO Jean-Philippe Paradis noting that the earlier date could extend Montreal's summer tourism season. The change will also create an exciting month of motorsport in North America, with the Miami and Canadian GPs leading up to the Indianapolis 500.
The calendar restructuring includes Monaco's move from its traditional late-May position to June, allowing for a more logistically efficient European segment during the summer months. This reorganization demonstrates F1's continued focus on sustainability while maintaining the sport's global presence.
