The event originated in 2002 as "The Turkey Chase 100" when track promoter Gary Palmer and announcer Brett Deyo collaborated to create a Thanksgiving weekend race. Despite challenging weather conditions, including snow removal from grandstands, the inaugural event's success established a beloved holiday tradition.

Accord Speedway's history dates back to the 1950s, beginning as a family farm before evolving into a Go-Kart track and eventually a full-fledged racing facility in 1962. The Palmer family's ownership since 2000 has transformed it into one of the region's premier racing venues.
