EV Charging Network Expands as GM, Mercedes and Volvo Partner with Travel Centers
Electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure expands significantly with major partnerships between automakers and travel centers, making long-distance EV travel more convenient and accessible.
General Motors and EVgo have launched their first 17 fast-charging stations across 13 states at Pilot and Flying J travel centers. These stations feature multiple charging stalls designed to accommodate EVs with trailers, covered canopies for weather protection, and essential amenities including restrooms and Wi-Fi.
Mercedes-Benz has formed a strategic partnership with Buc-ee's roadside convenience centers to enhance charging accessibility, while Volvo continues implementing their previously announced charging infrastructure plans.
These new charging locations significantly improve the EV road trip experience by:
- Offering convenient locations along major travel routes
- Providing multiple fast-charging stalls
- Including amenities for comfortable waiting periods
- Ensuring well-lit, safe environments
- Accommodating larger vehicles and those towing trailers
This expansion represents a major step forward in addressing one of the primary concerns for potential EV buyers - charging availability during long-distance travel.
