EVgo Accelerates Repairs and Upgrades to Fix Unreliable EV Charging Network
EV charging leader EVgo has significantly accelerated its maintenance and upgrade efforts through its new "ReNew" program, launched in January. The initiative focuses on quickly identifying and addressing faulty or outdated charging stations across its network.
In just the first six months of 2023, EVgo has successfully upgraded, replaced, or decommissioned 120 charging stalls – matching what it accomplished in nine months during 2022. This represents a substantial increase in the company's maintenance efficiency.
The company reports cutting station repair times by 50% over the past year, addressing a major pain point for EV drivers. To improve reliability and reduce wait times, EVgo has also committed to building larger charging stations, with all new locations featuring a minimum of four stalls. Many upcoming stations will offer six or more charging points.
These improvements come as the EV charging industry faces increasing scrutiny over reliability issues and customer complaints about broken or slow chargers. EVgo's proactive approach through the ReNew program demonstrates its commitment to enhancing the charging experience for electric vehicle owners.
