The five-year IndyCar veteran impressed the team during fall testing at Indianapolis, demonstrating valuable technical feedback skills. "He didn't say how to fix the car. He said what the car was doing, and we came up with how to fix the car," Dale Coyne explained, highlighting VeeKay's collaborative approach.
VeeKay joins the team following his departure from Ed Carpenter Racing in September. "After a difficult start to my offseason, I am delighted to end the winter with this news," said VeeKay, who will be competing in his sixth consecutive IndyCar season.
The team has assembled an experienced engineering lineup, pairing VeeKay with CART IndyCar Series and NASCAR veteran Ed Nathman, while John Dick will engineer Abel's car. This creates an intriguing dynamic of young drivers working with seasoned engineers.
VeeKay's first official appearance with Dale Coyne Racing will be at the upcoming Sebring test session, where the entire field will prepare for the season opener at St. Petersburg later this month.
