Ferrari's Reliability-Focused Updates Target Third Le Mans Win in 2025
Ferrari aims to boost reliability and performance with its 499P Hypercar for the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship season, targeting a third consecutive Le Mans victory and its first manufacturers' championship.

The updated 499P features a darker red base color with yellow "Giallo Modena" stripes extending to the side pods. The new livery includes a glossy finish optimized for nighttime visibility, complemented by matte accents matching Scuderia Ferrari's Formula 1 design.
Significant reliability improvements include modifications to:
- Suspension systems
- Electrical components
- Structural elements
- Wiring looms
Ferdinando Cannizzo, head of endurance race cars at Ferrari, confirms that approximately 50% of modifications focus on reliability, 25% address new regulations, and 25% target performance optimization without changing the car's core design.
The team has conducted extensive testing, covering 15,000km across 16 days at various circuits, including Qatar's Lusail Circuit. To maximize development within testing restrictions, Ferrari often extended testing days from 8 AM to midnight.

Despite finishing every race with at least one car in 2024, reliability issues affected both factory cars, with the No. 51 suffering DNFs at COTA and Fuji due to transmission and hybrid failures. The team acknowledges that while they have race-winning pace, consistency in reliability is crucial for championship success.
Looking ahead, Ferrari continues development on future performance updates, though these won't be implemented until 2026 due to new restrictions on in-season modifications. The team is already preparing improvements for the 2026 and 2027 seasons while focusing on maximizing their current package's potential.
