Red Bull Eyes 17-Year-Old Lindblad as New Reserve Driver After Super License Success
Arvid Lindblad has positioned himself as a potential Red Bull and RB reserve driver after securing his FIA Super License through his Formula Regional Oceania Championship victory.

F1 driver celebrates podium with trophy
The 17-year-old British-Swedish driver's rapid ascent includes four victories in his debut Formula 3 season, finishing fourth overall. His racing credentials are further bolstered by a third-place finish in the 2023 Italian Formula 4 championship. Lindblad clinched the FR Oceania title with two races remaining, securing crucial Super License points.
"What an incredible ride," Lindblad celebrated. "Proud to be crowned FR Oceania Champion. A huge shout-out to my team and everyone who's been part of this journey. What an amazing few weeks in New Zealand – such a stunning place."
Set to join Campos Racing in Formula 2 for 2025, Lindblad has caught the attention of Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. Despite not turning 18 until August, recent FIA Super License requirement changes allow 17-year-olds to race in F1 under "exceptional circumstances."
Red Bull's reserve driver position opened up following Liam Lawson's promotion to replace Sergio Perez, while Isack Hadjar moved to RB alongside Yuki Tsunoda. Both Lawson and Hadjar previously served as reserve drivers.
In the FR Oceania championship, American driver Nikita Johnson secured third place overall, achieving one victory and five podiums across 15 races. Johnson will compete in the GB3 Championship while also participating in four Indy NXT races with HMD Motorsports.
