Kakunoshin "Kaku" Ohta, Honda factory driver, joins Era Motorsport for two LMP2 races in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship following his debut at the Daytona 24 Hours. He will compete in the No.18 ORECA 07 LMP2 at the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring and IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America.

The expansion adds to Ohta's existing three-race schedule with Acura Meyer Shank Racing at Watkins Glen and Indianapolis. His impressive racing background includes experience in GTP class, Super Formula, SUPER GT GT500, and Super Taikyu.

This move is part of a new partnership between Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and Era Motorsport, designed to provide young drivers with North American sports car racing experience. Era Motorsport has previously collaborated with HRC on historic Honda/Acura sports prototype restoration projects.

Ohta will join Tobias Lütke and David Heinemeier Hansson in the lineup, replacing Ryan Dalziel. He has already begun preparation with the team, having tested with them before his North American debut.

At his recent Daytona 24 Hours debut in the No.93 MSR Acura ARX-06, Ohta showed promise by leading several laps before a suspension issue dropped the team to 14th place overall.

The partnership marks a significant step for both Era Motorsport and Honda's driver development program, combining Era's successful LMP2 class experience with HRC's commitment to nurturing racing talent.
