Michael Cannon Appointed as PREMA Racing's First Head of Engineering
Michael Cannon has joined PREMA Racing as head of engineering, marking a significant move for the former A.J. Foyt Racing technical director. After departing Foyt in early November, Cannon will now oversee engineering operations for PREMA's inaugural IndyCar season, working with drivers Callum Ilott and rookie Robert Shwartzman.

Cannon brings an impressive track record to the Indianapolis-based team, owned by Rene Rosin and Angelina Ertsou. His recent success includes transforming Foyt's team into a front-running organization, and prior to that, leading Scott Dixon to the 2020 championship at Chip Ganassi Racing, along with consecutive Indianapolis 500 pole positions.
Throughout his career, Cannon has demonstrated particular success with smaller teams, including HVM Racing, Ed Carpenter Racing, Dale Coyne Racing, and Foyt. His expertise in elevating these organizations' performance makes him particularly valuable to PREMA as they prepare for their IndyCar debut in March.
Given Cannon's history of improving team performance beyond expectations, his addition to PREMA suggests the team could be more competitive in their inaugural season than initially anticipated.
