The partnership centers around the Konica Minolta Business Center in the IMSA paddock, which serves as an operational hub for stakeholders and will now facilitate STEM initiatives. Students will gain hands-on experience through interactions with team engineers, drivers, and IMSA officials, plus visits to the IMSA Technology Center and race control.
The collaboration includes a comprehensive STEM curriculum developed with EVERFI, reaching over 60,000 teachers nationwide. The program features:
- Interactive, game-based lessons at no cost
- Scenario-based learning focused on motorsports technology
- Direct support for teachers and administrators
- Real-world applications of STEM principles in racing
"What makes our partnership with IMSA so unique and exciting is how we are able to expand the scope each year," says Michael Mathé, Chief Operating Officer at Konica Minolta. The company will leverage its expertise in educational technology solutions to enhance the program's effectiveness.
IMSA President John Doonan emphasizes the importance of introducing STEM careers to the next generation of motorsport professionals, including engineers, mechanics, and business leaders.
The program launches in January 2025 at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the opening race of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, with additional race markets to be announced.
