Doohan Unfazed by Colapinto's Alpine Arrival in F1's 'Cutthroat' Environment
Jack Doohan maintains a confident stance regarding Franco Colapinto's arrival at Alpine as a reserve driver, acknowledging the inherent pressure that comes with being one of only 20 Formula 1 drivers worldwide.

Despite Colapinto joining Alpine on a multi-year agreement through Williams, Doohan emphasizes that pressure is a constant in Formula 1, regardless of internal or external factors. "I would have done anything to be in Formula 1, and sacrifice everything," Doohan reflects on his journey through go-karting, Formula 3, and Formula 2.
Williams team principal James Vowles has confirmed that Colapinto will eventually return to Williams, as the Alpine arrangement was seen as his best opportunity for racing in 2025 and 2026. When questioned about the unusual situation of having a young reserve driver on a multi-year deal, Doohan dismissed concerns, noting that he himself was a 21-year-old reserve driver with a long-term contract last year.
Alpine has recently announced a partnership with Mercado Libre, the Latin American e-commerce platform that previously sponsored Williams during Colapinto's tenure. The platform will feature on Alpine's 2025 car, further strengthening the team's commercial partnerships.
Doohan remains focused on embracing the challenges ahead, stating, "Whatever pressure there may be, I look forward to enjoying that, embracing it, and just enjoying my Formula 1 season."
