
Dakar Rally: Brabec Claims First Stage Win While De Mevius Dominates Cars
Ricky Brabec secured his first stage win of the 2024 Dakar Rally, leading Honda teammate Adrien van Beveren by 23 seconds as competition resumed after the rest day. Daniel Sanders maintains overall lead with an 11m46s advantage, while Brabec moves up to fourth position.

The stage presented varied terrain conditions, with Brabec noting a challenging final section through the dunes complicated by local spectator traffic. During the stage, Brabec encountered a fallen rider but found emergency services already attending the scene.
In the Ultimate class, Guillaume de Mevius claimed his maiden stage victory for X-raid Mini, finishing 1m34s ahead of teammate João Ferreira. This win marked the first interruption of Toyota's dominance in this year's rally. Nasser Al Attiyah finished third, 2m01s behind, but remains fourth overall at 30 minutes back.
Hank Lategan retains the overall lead in Ultimate, holding a 7m16s advantage over Yazeed Al Rajhi and 22m27s over Mattias Ekstrom. Despite recording his lowest stage finish of seventh, Lategan adopted a strategic approach, prioritizing safety with challenging stages ahead.
