The Thermal Club has made significant modifications to its final corner sequence ahead of IndyCar's upcoming visit, responding to feedback from the racing series.

The primary change focuses on Turn 16-17, where drivers previously experienced dramatic car launches when crossing over the crest and curbing before entering the start/finish straight. The track has largely leveled this section to reduce the severity of the jump and protect IndyCar's sensitive magnesium bellhousings that house energy recovery systems.

"We've done a few revisions over the winter," confirms Thermal GM Nicholas Rhoades. "After each test, we've made adjustments to improve the track conditions."

Andretti Global driver Marcus Ericsson, who tested the modified circuit, reports mixed results: "They took some curbing out and added concrete. While it's definitely flatter, there's still a noticeable bump where the racing line crosses between different surface materials. It's less aggressive than before, but remains challenging."

The modifications aim to enhance both safety and racing quality while preserving the track's competitive nature for the upcoming IndyCar event.
