Super Formula 'Works Like F1 Without DRS' Says Bearman After Suzuka Test
Super Formula's newest test driver, Oliver Bearman, shared his impressive experience at Suzuka Circuit during Friday's rookie test day. The Haas F1 driver completed 43 laps in KCMG's Toyota-powered Dallara SF23, previously driven by Kamui Kobayashi.

Blue IndyCar racing at speed
Bearman praised the Super Formula car's performance, highlighting its agility and cornering abilities. He noted that while lacking DRS, the car feels similar to Formula 1, offering exceptional handling due to its lighter weight compared to F2 and F1 cars.
The 19-year-old British driver recorded a best time of 1m36.940s, just 1.4s behind veteran Tadasuke Makino's fastest time of the week. Despite facing a minor turbo issue in the afternoon session, Bearman achieved his primary goal of familiarizing himself with the track ahead of the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix.

The test drew hundreds of Japanese fans, who welcomed Bearman warmly with gifts and requests for autographs. The driver expressed gratitude for the exceptional fan turnout and Toyota's support, viewing this test as the beginning of a promising partnership.
Working with Japanese engineers proved smooth, with effective English communication throughout the session. This experience marks an important step in Bearman's preparation for the upcoming F1 race at Suzuka, made possible through the strategic alliance between Haas and Toyota Gazoo Racing.
