Capital District Race Car Show Season Revs Up - Inside Look at Lebanon Valley Showcase

With the racing season upon us, local tracks are gearing up with exciting car shows and events across the Capital District.

Lebanon Valley's second annual race car show at Colonie Center, organized by Lance and Jill Sharpe, saw increased participation with race cars spanning the entire mall. The event featured veteran and new drivers, including multi-time track champion Kenny Tremont, who joined car owner Joey Lawrence at the Vintage Memories display.

Notable displays included Link Pettit's restored No. 200 Late Model, now owned by his son and Joe Grossetti. 2024 Pro Stock Track Champion Zach Sorrentino showcased his new Manimal Chassis, while his daughter's Juice Box racing career continues to flourish with 13 wins at Lebanon Valley's Kart Track.

Bubba McPhee, transitioning from Sportsman to Modifieds, will compete for the Rookie title at Lebanon Valley. Kim Lavoy, a 32-year racing veteran, returns with a new engine in her No. 3 car, praising recent track improvements.

The Palmer race team announces their 2025 lineup: JaMike Sowle at Fonda, Chip Constantino in the 358 Mod Series, and Billy Pauch, Jr. at Orange County. Demetrios Drellos adds a new Rocket XR1.2 Super Late Model to his racing schedule.

Upcoming events include:

  • Fonda Speedway Racecar Show (March 21-23, ViaPort Rotterdam)
  • Utica-Rome Speedway's first-ever show (March 28-30, Sangertown Square Mall)
  • Short Track Super Series at Port Royal Speedway (March 14-15)
  • Super DIRTcar Series season opener at New Egypt Speedway (March 29)

The STSS event will stream on FloRacing, while the SDS races will be available on DIRTVision.
