Sergio Perez Exits Red Bull Racing After Challenging 2024 Season
Sergio Perez has announced his immediate departure from Red Bull Racing following a challenging 2024 Formula 1 season.

Despite a strong start to 2024 with four podiums in the first five races, Perez's performance declined significantly. After finishing fourth in Miami, he managed only 49 points in the remaining 18 races, dropping from second to eighth in the drivers' championship. In contrast, teammate Max Verstappen scored 301 points and secured five wins during the same period, ultimately leading to a 285-point gap between the drivers.
This performance disparity contributed to Red Bull's third-place finish in the constructors' championship, behind McLaren and Ferrari.
Liam Lawson is expected to replace Perez for the 2025 season, while Red Bull junior Isack Hadjar, who finished second in Formula 2, is likely to move to RB.
In his farewell statement, Perez expressed gratitude for his four years with the team: "Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I'll always cherish the successes we achieved together. It has been an honor to race alongside Max as a teammate all these years and to share in our success."
While Perez currently has no confirmed seat for 2025, he joins other experienced drivers like Valtteri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen, and Zhou Guanyu on the market ahead of Cadillac's planned F1 entry in 2026.
