The program features groundbreaking hand-control and electronic-braking technology developed by Bosch, which Wickens has been using since his return to racing following a severe IndyCar crash at Pocono Raceway in 2018. The system, integrated by Pratt Miller Motorsports, can be switched between hand controls for Wickens and traditional pedals for co-drivers.
Wickens' remarkable journey includes winning the TCR championship in 2023 and securing runner-up honors in 2024 with Bryan Herta Autosport. His transition to DXDT Racing marks another milestone in his recovery and return to professional racing.
David Askew, DXDT Racing owner, expressed enthusiasm about adding Wickens to the team, highlighting his proven success and resilience. The partnership involves collaboration between DXDT, Bosch, General Motors, and Pratt Miller, with Wickens being the only driver directly supported by Bosch in the series.
The move represents a significant step in making motorsport more inclusive, with GM's director of motorsports competition programs, Mark Stielow, emphasizing the importance of innovation in creating opportunities for all competitors. Wickens' teammate for the 2025 season will be announced at a later date.
