Red Bull's Horner: Perez made choice to step away from F1
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner claims Sergio Perez voluntarily chose to step away from Formula 1, contradicting the driver's previous statements about wanting to continue racing.
According to Horner, Perez's decision came after a challenging season that started strongly with four podiums in five races but declined significantly after the Monaco Grand Prix. Despite Red Bull's efforts to support him, Perez reportedly concluded it was time to take a break from F1.

"I think the thing for Checo is to take a bit of time out, spend it with his family," Horner explained. "He has been on the treadmill for a long time now and [needs to] work out whether he wants to keep going in Formula 1 or maybe look at other categories."
However, sources close to Perez dispute Horner's version of events. With no race seats available outside Red Bull for 2025, Perez's F1 future remains uncertain.
Regarding Perez's replacement, Red Bull is considering two candidates: Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson. Tsunoda recently participated in tire testing at Abu Dhabi, while Lawson has impressed during his testing sessions and race appearances this year. The team expects to announce their decision in the coming days.
