PREMA Racing and IndyCar Engineering Chief Michael Cannon Part Ways
PREMA Racing and Michael Cannon have ended their partnership just weeks after the veteran race engineer joined the team as head of engineering. Cannon, who previously served as technical director at A.J. Foyt Racing, was present at PREMA's January 10 team launch at GM's Charlotte Technical Center.
This unexpected split creates a significant void for the Italian junior open-wheel team, which had aimed to leverage Cannon's extensive IndyCar experience and Indianapolis 500 expertise to accelerate their learning curve in the series.

While Cannon's departure, particularly his oval racing expertise, will impact the team's development, PREMA retains a strong engineering core. The team has recruited several experienced IndyCar engineers, including the highly-regarded Steve Barker, who remain capable of advancing the program's competitiveness.
Cannon is expected to secure another position within the IndyCar paddock shortly, given his championship-winning credentials and specialized Indianapolis 500 experience.
