The Australian driver sees 2024 as a pivotal year for both personal growth and team success. "I think it has been a great improvement personally. Also for the team it has been a massive step forward," Piastri told SiriusXM. He acknowledges room for improvement but emphasizes the significant progress made throughout the season.
McLaren's recent success, with teammate Lando Norris finishing second in the drivers' championship behind Max Verstappen, has exceeded Piastri's early career expectations. "I never would have dreamt that at this stage of my life and this stage of my career I would be in a world championship-winning team," he reflected.
The team's remarkable turnaround stems from two years of dedicated development work. Piastri believes this could be "the start of something special" and is determined to maximize the opportunity ahead. As he prepares for the upcoming season, his focus remains on personal development and contributing to McLaren's continued success in Formula 1.
