Perez Contemplates F1 Future After Sudden Red Bull Departure
Sergio Perez is contemplating his future following an unexpected exit from Red Bull Formula 1 team at the end of 2024, a season that saw him secure only four podium finishes.

Race driver in competitive stance
While Red Bull team principal Christian Horner suggested Perez chose to take a break from F1, the Mexican driver indicated the decision wasn't entirely his. Speaking at the Leon State Fair, Perez admitted it's too early to determine whether he'll return to Formula 1.
"Everything happened very quickly at the end of the season, so I didn't expect it," Perez explained. "If I receive a good, interesting project, I'll definitely consider it and think about it. It will all come in its own time."
For now, Perez is embracing his first break from racing since age six. After 14 years in Formula 1, he plans to:
- Focus on family time
- Travel for leisure rather than work
- Take six months to decide his next career move
- Enjoy the freedom from intensive racing schedules
"I'm very calm, very happy, enjoying time with my children, family, and friends," Perez shared. "I've traveled all over the world without really knowing it. Now I'm looking forward to actually experiencing different places and doing things I haven't done for a long time."
