NRG EVgo has successfully doubled its fast-charging network to 350 stations across 19 U.S. markets in just eight months, establishing itself as the largest public charging network operator with four times more stations than competitors.

The network supports both major charging standards: CHAdeMO (used by Nissan LEAF, Kia Soul EV, and Mitsubishi i-MiEV) and CCS (adopted by most U.S. and German manufacturers).

Key locations and expansion:

  • Los Angeles area: 100 stations
  • Dallas/Fort Worth/Houston: 50 stations
  • Chicago: 28 stations
  • Atlanta: 28 stations (added in past 6 months)
  • Denver: 10 stations coming online

The company's Texas coverage is particularly impressive, with enough stations to cover the entire greater Houston area (8,778 square miles) - an area larger than New Jersey.

Future Growth Plans:

  • Expansion into 7 new markets by year-end
  • Multiple sites in permitting or construction phases across six metro areas

DC fast-charging capabilities:

  • Charges electric cars to 80% capacity in approximately 30 minutes
  • Provides greater flexibility and extended range for EV drivers
  • Higher construction and electricity costs compared to Level 2 stations
