McLaren's strong qualifying performance saw Norris claim pole position ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, locking out the front row. Ferrari needs to outscore McLaren by 21 points to clinch the constructors' title, making the race particularly significant for both teams.

"We've got to beat Ferrari, and we want to do it in style by winning," Norris stated. "We're going to give everything we've got to achieve our big goals."

Qualifying proved more challenging than expected, with Max Verstappen showing strong pace initially. Norris acknowledged that while his pole position lap wasn't perfectly clean, running close to the edge helped secure the top spot.

The British driver anticipates an aggressive performance from Sainz, who will be eager to prove himself in his final race for Ferrari before Lewis Hamilton takes his seat. Despite the pressure, Norris remains confident in McLaren's position, noting they have a advantageous starting position compared to Ferrari.

McLaren's strategy focuses on maintaining their constructors' championship lead while pursuing race victory, setting up what promises to be an intense season finale at Abu Dhabi.
