MSR and Acura Reunite: A Stronger Partnership Returns to IMSA Racing
Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) has made a triumphant return to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, partnering once again with Acura after a one-year hiatus. The team's comeback features an expanded program with two GTP class ARX-06s and an impressive driver lineup.

Team owner Mike Shank received the news from HRC US president David Salters, who announced they were "getting the band back together." This reunion comes after MSR's departure in 2023 when HRC US shifted to a single-team approach with Wayne Taylor Racing.
The 2024 full-season driver lineup combines veterans Colin Braun and Tom Blomqvist with newcomers Renger van der Zande (formerly with Cadillac) and Nick Yelloly (from BMW Team RLL). For the Rolex 24, the team adds Felix Rosenqvist, Kakunoshin Ohta, Alex Palou, and Scott Dixon to their roster.
Key aspects of MSR's return:
- Nearly complete retention of their 2023 engineering staff (22 out of 23 members)
- Dual leadership model with MSR engineering one car and HRC leading the other
- ARX-06 maintains its core mechanics while featuring updated software
- No "joker" modifications required for the software updates
The team has shown promising performance during the Roar testing weekend, with both cars completing significant mileage. Shank maintains high expectations, targeting podium finishes in their comeback season: "We expect to come back on the podium. Maybe we don't win, but there's no reason we shouldn't be challenging for the podium places."
