Joel Doiron's journey in motorsport spans generations, from working alongside his Hall of Fame father Ovide Doiron to becoming a successful racer and race director. Growing up immersed in racing and the family's automotive business, Doiron Auto Inc., Joel developed a deep passion for the sport from an early age.

After years of supporting his father's racing career in the shop and at tracks, Joel began his own racing journey in 1994 at age 30. He balanced racing with his police career while continuing to assist his father. His achievements include winning DIRTcar Rookie of the Year in 1997 and capturing championships at both Autodrome Edelweiss (1998) and Cornwall Motor Speedway (2002).

Following his 19-year racing career, Joel took on the role of race director at Cornwall Speedway in 2017, where he particularly enjoyed mentoring young kart racers. He recently announced a sabbatical to focus on teaching at Cité Collégiale Francophone d'Ottawa and preserve his father's racing legacy through an extensive memorabilia collection.

As his father battles dementia, Joel dedicates himself to cataloging and preserving the artifacts that tell the story of their shared racing passion. The collection includes memories of close friendships with racing legends like Bob McCreadie and highlights the strong bonds formed within the racing community.

Cornwall Speedway owner Raymond Lavergne praised Joel's dedication and support over the years, noting that while his departure is significant, Joel has ensured a smooth transition by mentoring his successor. Though stepping away from his official duties, Joel maintains strong ties to Cornwall Speedway, which has been part of his family's legacy since the track's opening night.
