Wood Brothers Racing Honors Jim Clark's 1965 Indy 500 Victory with Darlington Throwback Livery
The Wood Brothers Racing will honor Jim Clark's iconic 1965 Indianapolis 500 victory with a special throwback livery at Darlington Raceway next month. Josh Berry's No. 21 Ford Mustang will feature the distinctive green and yellow colors of Clark's winning Ford Lotus.

The unveiling took place at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, alongside Clark's original No. 82 Ford Lotus. The historic connection runs deep, as Wood Brothers team members Glen, Leonard, Delano, and Ray Lee Wood served as Clark's pit crew in the 1965 race, bringing their revolutionary pit stop techniques to open-wheel racing.

Team president Jon Wood collaborated with Clive Chapman, son of Team Lotus founder Colin Chapman, to secure approval for the design. The timing is particularly significant as it marks both Wood Brothers Racing's 75th anniversary and the 60th anniversary of Clark's victory.
Clark's historic win was notable for several achievements:
- First victory for Ford Racing at the Indianapolis 500
- First win for a rear-engined car at the event
- Led 190 of 200 laps
- Record-setting 41.9-second pit stops by the Wood Brothers crew
Leonard Wood reflected on the significance: "This is one of the greatest moments of my life; looking back and pitting that car 60 years ago and then looking at this one – 75 years – and to be still here pulling for these guys to win races."
The throwback livery will debut during NASCAR's official throwback weekend on April 5-6 at Darlington Raceway.
