Inside MX-5 Cup: 18-Year-Old Noah Harmon Wins 2024 Scholarship Shootout
Noah Harmon, an 18-year-old rising star from Toronto, has clinched the prestigious Mazda MX-5 Cup Scholarship Shootout, earning a fully funded ride for the 2025 season.

Harmon's journey to victory was strategic. He participated in three Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup rounds in 2024, gaining valuable experience while maintaining eligibility for the scholarship. This experience proved crucial for his second attempt at the Shootout.
Starting his racing career later than most, Harmon began karting at age 14 in Orlando, Florida. Despite his late start, he quickly proved competitive in Florida state competitions and national events. After just two seasons of karting, he transitioned to race cars through the Lucas Oil Racing School.
His progression included competing in Spec Miata with BSI Racing in 2023, followed by Spec MX-5 with Greenwood Motorsports in 2024. Notable achievements include:
- Fourth-place finish in MX-5 Cup at Road Atlanta
- Second place in Spec MX-5 class at the 2024 SCCA National Championship Runoffs
The 2025 season will mark Harmon's first full championship campaign. With support from Street Side Classics and extensive testing in the MX-5 Cup car, he enters the series well-prepared despite his relatively brief racing career.
"I think representing Mazda this year in MX-5 Cup and being the Shootout winner and just getting to do a full season is gonna be a big, big deal," Harmon reflects, looking forward to his debut at Daytona International Speedway in January.
