IndyCar Series Mandates New Spec Fuel Flow Meter for 2025 Season
The IndyCar Series has mandated a new fuel flow meter for all Dallara DW12 chassis in 2025, adopting the Sentronics Flowsonic technology widely used in Formula 1, IMSA, and World Endurance Championship racing.

This change, requested by engine suppliers Chevrolet and Honda, standardizes fuel flow and consumption measurements across all teams. The new system replaces the previous method of measuring volumetric flow rates through fuel injectors, which required constant calibration and often produced inconsistent results.
Key benefits of the Flowsonic meters include:
- Elimination of constant fuel-rail/injector calibration
- Improved accuracy in fuel flow measurements
- Real-time fuel consumption monitoring
- More reliable pit stop and refueling strategy planning
This technological upgrade represents a significant step forward in fuel management precision for IndyCar teams and manufacturers, streamlining operations while ensuring more accurate fuel consumption data.
