The IndyCar Series has implemented stricter safety regulations for driver seats and seat belts, focusing on crashes that exceed 65 Gs. This new safety protocol includes mandatory confiscation of custom-molded driver seats and restraint devices after significant impacts.

  • Poured/foam seats will be automatically confiscated and retired
  • Machined/beat seats may be removed if involved in crashes exceeding 65 Gs

This safety initiative, implemented under former IndyCar president Jay Frye, represents a significant enhancement to the series' existing safety protocols.
