This tiny 8mm camera, mounted within the helmet padding, will provide viewers with an authentic driver's perspective from inside the cockpit. The system, developed by Italy's Racing Force Group, connects directly to the car's communications system and has already proven successful in Formula 1 and NASCAR broadcasts.

The technology will make its IndyCar debut at the St. Petersburg season opener, offering unprecedented views from inside the Dallara DW12 chassis equipped with the aeroscreen safety device. This new angle will complement existing camera positions and provide a fresh perspective that has been limited since the aeroscreen's introduction in 2020.

While new to the current IndyCar Series, similar in-helmet camera technology was previously featured in CART IndyCar races during the early 2000s, with drivers like Paul Tracy showcasing the cockpit view.

Initially exclusive to Bell Helmets due to FIA crash testing requirements, IndyCar may approve the technology for multiple helmet manufacturers, expanding the pool of drivers who can utilize the system throughout the 17-race season.

This implementation marks a significant advancement in race broadcast technology, promising viewers an immersive experience of IndyCar racing from the driver's perspective.
