Hughes: Barnard's defensive move was aggressive but fair for Jeddah podium
Jake Hughes says Taylor Barnard's defensive move during the Jeddah E-Prix was aggressive but justified, as the pair battled for second place in the race's closing stages.

Despite being forced off track on the penultimate lap at Turn 1, Hughes maintained a sporting attitude about the incident. "Look, it's on the edge," he said. "Fair play to Taylor. He did everything he needed to do. I'd probably do the same, to be honest."
The podium marked Hughes' third in Formula E and his first with Maserati since joining the team. His performance, following a fifth-place finish the previous day, helped elevate Stellantis to second place in the manufacturers' championship.
Hughes expressed satisfaction with the race execution, noting that winner Oli Rowland "was just a bit too good." The strong showing from Stellantis-powered cars, including Friday's win by DS Penske's Maximilian Guenther, positions the manufacturer well against championship leaders Nissan.
"Apart from Max today, we've basically had all four Stellantis cars in the points in the last few races," Hughes remarked, expressing optimism for the remainder of the season. The consistent point-scoring across Stellantis-powered teams suggests they may be stronger contenders than initially expected.
