F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali emphasized Monza's significance in Formula 1 history and its unique atmosphere, particularly noting the passionate Tifosi who gather to support Ferrari and other drivers. The decision comes as F1 experiences strong growth in Italy, with a cumulative broadcast audience of 183.3 million in 2023.

Recent infrastructure upgrades and planned investments demonstrate a strong commitment to Monza's future in F1. The extension was made possible through collaboration between the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI), the Italian Government, and the Lombardy Region.

ACI president Angelo Sticchi Damiani acknowledged that while Monza's status as the oldest Formula 1 venue is significant, modern standards require continuous improvement. Recent improvements include:

  • Track resurfacing
  • Enhanced safety measures for both drivers and fans
  • New underpasses
  • Planned upgrades to hospitality facilities for 2025

This extension follows similar recent contract renewals for the Monaco and Canadian Grand Prix circuits, securing more traditional venues on the F1 calendar for years to come.
