Evo Sessions Shows Media Stars and YouTubers the Reality of Formula E Racing
Formula E's Evo Sessions event in Miami provided media personalities and content creators the unique opportunity to experience GEN3 Evo racing cars firsthand. Among the participants was Scott Mansell, a professional driver and popular YouTuber with over 1.34 million subscribers on his Driver61 channel.

Working with Lola Yamaha Abt, Mansell approached the experience like a professional race weekend, spending time in the simulator and collaborating closely with engineers. The preparation process was thorough, with participants receiving coaching from professional drivers and team engineers.
The event consisted of two 20-minute sessions, which Mansell found to be the ideal duration for safety and learning. Despite his racing background, he had to adapt his driving style to accommodate the unique characteristics of electric race cars, particularly in terms of braking technique.
Mansell impressed by getting within a tenth of professional driver Zane Maloney's time. He praised Formula E for three key aspects:
- Unpredictable race outcomes
- Extensive wheel-to-wheel action
- Visible driver skill and car control
The success of Evo Sessions demonstrates Formula E's commitment to innovation and willingness to try new approaches. Mansell believes this format might be unique to Formula E, as other racing series may not be willing to take such risks.
While some traditional motorsport fans criticize Formula E for its lack of engine noise, Mansell argues that the series offers compelling racing with modern technology, challenging circuits, and impressive driver skill. The event successfully showcased Formula E's technological sophistication and the experience of driving electric race cars at their limit.
