Frank Kelleher, president of Daytona International Speedway, emphasized the event's unique status as both an elite racing competition and entertainment spectacle. The atmosphere builds from the start of Speedweeks, with mounting excitement among fans, drivers, and crew chiefs alike.

Defending champion William Byron, who led Hendrick Motorsports to a one-two finish last year with teammate Alex Bowman, will attempt to achieve back-to-back victories. The last driver to accomplish this feat was Denny Hamlin in 2019-2020. Last year's dramatic finish required video review after a caution during the final lap with Byron and Bowman racing side-by-side through the tri-oval.

Key dates for the 2024 event:

  • February 12: Practice and qualifying begins
  • February 13: Field set through Duel races
  • February 16: 67th Daytona 500

Looking ahead, the 2026 Daytona 500 is scheduled for February 15.
