Dan Fallows' departure from his technical director role at Aston Martin Formula 1 team stems from performance issues rather than Adrian Newey's upcoming arrival, according to performance director Tom McCullough.

The former Red Bull head of aerodynamics, who joined Aston Martin in 2022, will remain within the wider group despite stepping down from his position. McCullough confirms this decision was made before Newey's appointment and primarily reflects the team's underwhelming 2024 performance.

"The performance of the team this year hasn't been at the level that we've all been wanting it to be at," McCullough explained. While acknowledging Fallows' significant contributions to the development of both the '22 and '23 cars, he emphasized that the team's 2024 on-track performance fell short of expectations.

The team plans to manage Fallows' responsibilities internally, leveraging existing personnel including Bob Bell, who joined earlier this year as technical overseer. Eric will take on increased aerodynamic responsibilities, with Bell maintaining overall technical leadership.

This restructuring demonstrates Aston Martin's commitment to improving performance through organizational changes while maintaining operational continuity within the team.
