CT525 Engine Approved for 2025 at Bridgeport and New Egypt Speedways
New Jersey dirt tracks Bridgeport Motorsports Park and New Egypt Speedway announce CT525 engines will be legal for Modified racing starting in 2025, offering racers a more affordable option.

Race track rules and regulations update
The CT525 engine, already legal in New York and Canada, delivers over 540hp and 500 ft-lbs. of torque using an aluminum block Chevy LS design. Priced at approximately $9,900 (excluding carburetor, exhaust, and front engine assembly), it offers significant savings compared to current spec engines that can cost over $35,000.
Key specifications and requirements:
- Minimum weight requirement: 2,300 lbs
- RPM limit: 7,400
- Expected lifespan: 2-4 years (compared to current engines lasting 500-700 laps)
- Engines must be purchased through and sealed by respective speedways
Track owners emphasize this change aims to make racing more affordable while maintaining competitiveness. Doug Rose, Bridgeport Motorsports Park owner, states, "We need to find avenues to help the racer's budget, and we believe this is one of those avenues."
