Catalano Dominates COTA Night Race for Third VP Challenge Victory

Valentino Catalano secured his third victory of the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge season at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in a dominant night race performance.

Driving the No. 30 Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsports Duqueine D08, Catalano led from pole position throughout the 45-minute race, finishing 48.813 seconds ahead of teammate Oscar Tunjo. Jonathan Woolridge claimed third place in the No. 54 MLT Motorsports Ligier JS P320, marking his third consecutive podium finish.

In the GTDX class, Jake Walker completed a perfect weekend in the No. 6 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, sweeping both races from pole position. AJ Muss finished second in the No. 66 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3, maintaining his championship lead with 1,260 points.

The GSX class saw Ian Porter claim his first series victory in the No. 68 RAFA Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4. Previous race winner Kiko Porto suffered a mechanical issue late in the race, ending his streak of three consecutive victories. Chris Walsh finished second in the No. 10 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 EVO, with Steven Clemons taking third despite a 10-second penalty.

Championship standings after four races:

  • P3 Class: Catalano leads with 1,310 points, followed by Woolridge with 1,200
  • GTDX Class: Muss leads with 1,260 points, ahead of Adelson with 1,250
  • GSX Class: Porto maintains the lead with 1,270 points, followed by 1,120 points

The series continues with a doubleheader at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on June 6-8.
