
Williams Signs Experienced McLaren F1 Simulator Expert Oliver Turvey for Development Role
Oliver Turvey has joined Williams Racing as a test and development driver, departing McLaren after more than a decade of service.

The 37-year-old brings extensive experience from both Formula E, where he competed from 2015 to 2022, and his previous role at McLaren. His achievements include winning the LMP2 class at Le Mans, and he holds an engineering degree from Cambridge University.
Williams sporting director Sven Smeets emphasized Turvey's valuable experience and expertise, noting his importance to the team's journey back to success. Turvey will work alongside Harrison Scott in developing current and future cars, with a particular focus on Williams' new simulator scheduled for later this year.
"I am delighted to join Williams," Turvey said. "It's an honor to have the opportunity to join such an historic and successful team." He expressed enthusiasm about working with drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant, and committed to utilizing his combined driving and engineering experience to enhance the team's performance.
The appointment comes as Williams continues to strengthen its technical capabilities, with Turvey's engineering background being a key factor in his selection. His role will be crucial in developing Williams' new simulator facility and supporting the race team's overall performance improvement program.
