Porsche Penske Reveals Strategy Behind Driver Line-up Changes for 2025
Porsche Penske Motorsport has revamped its driver lineup across IMSA WeatherTech and FIA World Endurance Championships, making strategic changes to optimize performance.
Unlike other GTP teams, Porsche Penske committed to three drivers per car for the Rolex 24 At Daytona, departing from veterans Andre Lotterer, Frederic Makowiecki, and Dane Cameron.

Key lineup changes include:
- Mathieu Jaminet and Nick Tandy split after two seasons together
- Jaminet joins Matt Campbell in the No.6 Porsche
- Tandy pairs with IMSA GTP Champion Felipe Nasr in the No.7
- Campbell and Jaminet will participate in non-conflicting WEC rounds
The decision process considered multiple factors:
- Driver personalities
- Physical characteristics
- Driving styles
- Driver feedback
- Team compatibility
The three-driver arrangement means more balanced driving duties during the 24-hour race. Team Managing Director Jonathan Diuguid notes this creates a more structured rotation plan, with less flexibility but greater consistency in performance levels across all drivers.
While the rotation will be largely fixed, the team maintains flexibility to adjust strategy in the final hours, similar to 2024 when Felipe Nasr dominated the race's final quarter. Weather conditions for this year's race appear consistent, allowing the team to optimize driver selection based on performance during the first 18 hours.
Though no official reserve driver is designated, Julien Andlauer from the Proton Competition No.5 Porsche could potentially step in if needed.
