VP Racing Challenge: Triple Sweep at Rain-Soaked Daytona

Racing under dramatically different weather conditions on Sunday at Daytona International Speedway, all three class winners from Saturday's IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge repeated their victories in the second 45-minute race.

In Le Mans Prototype 3 (P3), Valentino Catalano dominated in the No. 30 Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsports Duqueine D08, leading 20 of 21 laps from pole position on the wet track. His teammate Markus Pommer finished second, completing another 1-2 finish for the team.

Adam Adelson secured his second straight GTDX class victory in the No. 24 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), winning by 26.324 seconds. AF Corse teammates Matias Perez Companc and AJ Muss completed the podium in their Ferrari 296 GT3 cars.

In GSX, Kiko Porto overcame a 10-second post-race penalty to win in the No. 8 RAFA Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2. Porto built a substantial lead of 21.283 seconds, which proved sufficient to maintain his victory despite the penalty. Jackson Lee finished second in the Porsche 718 GT4 RS CS, while Ian Porter completed the podium.

Notable performances in Bronze-rated categories included:

  • P3: Brian Thienes (4th place)
  • GTDX: Kyle Washington (4th place)
  • GSX: Ian Porter (3rd place)

The VP Racing SportsCar Challenge continues with rounds three and four at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, from February 28 to March 1, 2025.
