Yuki Tsunoda, RB Formula 1 driver, faced unexpected immigration challenges when arriving in Las Vegas for the season's third U.S. Grand Prix event.

Despite having proper documentation and previously entering the U.S. without issues for races in Miami and Austin, Tsunoda was detained by customs officials for several hours of questioning.

"Luckily they let me in after a lot of discussions — I nearly got sent back home," Tsunoda explained. The situation was particularly challenging due to language barriers and strict protocols that prevented him from seeking assistance.

The Japanese driver wasn't allowed to have his trainer present during questioning or contact his team for support. "In that room you can't do anything," he noted, describing the isolation during the customs process.

Tsunoda expressed confusion about the incident, stating, "I had the visas and everything; it's been the same as the last three tracks. I was able to enter smoothly for the previous races, so it felt a bit strange that I got stopped."

Despite the ordeal, Tsunoda was eventually cleared to enter the country and participate in the Las Vegas Grand Prix. He hopes this experience will help prevent similar issues in future U.S. race entries.
