Starting from second position, Steuer maintained control of the race by strategically choosing the outside lane on restarts. The track's fast, top-dominant nature played to his advantage throughout the 60-lap feature.

"We couldn't have asked for anything better to start our season off," said Steuer. "You still have to keep up with the track and how it is changing, and holding those guys off is tough."

The race culminated in an intense five-lap battle between Steuer and multiple STSS champion Matt Sheppard. Despite Sheppard's aggressive slider moves in turn three, Steuer successfully crossed him over in turn four each time, maintaining his lead to the finish.

Sheppard, who started 12th, methodically worked his way through the field. "We had a good car and dam this place was hammer down," Sheppard commented. "If the track was like it was on lap 60 at lap 20 or 30, it might've been a different story."

For Steuer's small family team, the $12,000 victory represents more than just a win. "This is a huge win; we are a small team who have a lot of people come together to give me this opportunity," Steuer reflected. "Hopefully we can keep the momentum going."
