Spire Motorsports aims to secure its first merit-based NASCAR Cup Series victory in 2025, backed by significant investments and an expanded three-car operation.

Despite not being a direct mandate from ownership, winning has become an internal expectation following years of steady improvement. The team's progress is evident in Carson Hocevar's 2024 Rookie of the Year performance, which included six top-10 finishes and an average finish of 18.3.

The organization has made substantial investments in infrastructure, including:

  • Purchase of a 77,000-square-foot facility in Mooresville, North Carolina
  • Expansion to three full-time cars
  • Strategic hiring of experienced personnel

Key personnel for 2025:

  • Carson Hocevar (#77) with crew chief Luke Lambert
  • Michael McDowell (#71) with Travis Peterson
  • Justin Haley (#7) with Rodney Childers
  • Ryan Sparks as Competition Director
  • Matt McCall as Director of Vehicle Performance
  • Dax Gerringer as Technical Director

While Spire Motorsports has one previous Cup Series win (Justin Haley at Daytona in 2019), it came through weather-related strategy. The team's current infrastructure and talent pool position them for their first performance-based victory.

Team co-owner Jeff Dickerson acknowledges they're not yet at the level of powerhouse teams like Hendrick, Penske, or Gibbs, but emphasizes their racing-focused culture and growing ability to attract top talent. The organization has evolved from actively recruiting personnel to now receiving inquiries from interested professionals in the industry.

The sense of urgency is palpable within the organization, as they aim to translate their improvements into victories and playoff appearances in the 2025 season.
