IndyCar faces one of its most challenging periods since The Split, with team owners expressing serious concerns about the series' future. Two team owners have privately indicated they might leave IndyCar after the current chassis/engine formula ends if conditions don't improve, while Penske Entertainment maintains an optimistic public stance.

While some suggest a potential breakaway series with Liberty Media, this seems unlikely given Penske's ownership of key tracks and the massive financial investment required for new cars and engines. The challenge lies in Penske Entertainment striking the right balance between operational costs and return on investment to retain the current teams.

IndyCar is addressing some technological gaps, with a new website launch imminent that should solve current mobile browsing issues. The current site's desktop-only optimization has been a point of frustration for users trying to access content on mobile devices.

Marketing efforts are ramping up through FOX Sports, with Josef Newgarden's Super Bowl commercial marking a significant promotional push. FOX plans to continue featuring Newgarden, Pato O'Ward, and Alex Palou in their main driver promotions throughout the season, with additional non-driver promotional content in development, particularly around the Indy 500, season opener at St. Petersburg, and championship finale.

Note: Submissions for this week's Mailbag closed before Jay Frye's departure from IndyCar was announced. Further questions about this development will be addressed in future editions.
