Curt Spalding dominated the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals, claiming five Feature win Gator trophies, the Gator Championship Big Gator trophy, and the week-long DIRTcar Nationals Big Gator Championship trophy - a remarkable achievement that almost didn't happen.

Initially hesitant to make the 1,000-mile journey from Watervilet, MI to Volusia Speedway Park, Spalding hadn't won at the track since 2020. However, encouragement from his car owners, Chris and Adam Terry, and his son Tyler pushed him to compete.

The success stems from two years of intensive program development, despite struggling with performance during the previous season. For Spalding, a long-time fan of the event since the 1990s, winning at Volusia holds special significance.

Looking ahead to 2025, Spalding plans to compete in UMP Modified events and select DIRTcar Summit Modified Nationals races. He's also focusing on supporting his 23-year-old son Tyler's racing career in DIRTcar UMP Modified.

Tyler, who won several local races in 2024, has shown promising talent both on and off the track. His ability to analyze and tune race cars, skills developed with guidance from the late Dewayne Ragland, has proven invaluable to the team's success.

The 2025 DIRTcar Summer Nationals season kicks off at Illinois's Brownstown Bullring on June 10, with all racing action available live on DIRTVision.
