The Sauber Motorsport Technology Center UK aims to strengthen the team's position within Formula 1 as it prepares to become Audi's works team in 2026. The facility is expected to be operational by summer 2024.
The team is currently evaluating locations within the Silverstone region, including Bicester and Milton Keynes. This strategic move will give Sauber access to Britain's extensive motorsport talent pool, which includes approximately 25,000 industry professionals.
Mattia Binotto, Sauber Motorsport's COO and CTO, emphasized that while Hinwil will remain the team's primary engineering hub, the UK facility will create a collaborative network to drive innovation and performance.
The expansion follows an industry trend, with most F1 teams already based in the UK's Motorsport Valley. Currently, only Sauber, Ferrari, and RB maintain headquarters outside Britain, though RB operates an aerodynamics department in Bicester.
This development coincides with other teams' expansion plans in the region, including Haas's search for a new factory site and Cadillac F1 Team's existing facility at Silverstone.
