Sao Paulo Formula E Race Set for Peloton-Style Battle, Says Wehrlein
Reigning Formula E champion Pascal Wehrlein predicts a "peloton-style" race at the Sao Paulo E-Prix, diminishing the significance of qualifying position in the overall race strategy.

Despite new technical changes, including grippier but faster-degrading tires and four-wheel-drive Attack Mode, Wehrlein expects race dynamics to remain largely unchanged. The TAG Heuer Porsche driver notes that qualifying's main benefit is primarily for the three points awarded, rather than track position.
The energy-sensitive nature of the Sao Paulo circuit means race strategy will continue to focus on energy conservation for late-race pushes. This was evident in last year's race where Sam Bird won from sixth position in the final corners, while pole-sitter Wehrlein finished fourth.
The most significant change will come from the new Attack Mode system, which combines power boost with four-wheel drive capability. Wehrlein emphasizes that this temporary advantage will create crucial overtaking opportunities, as not all drivers will have access to four-wheel drive throughout the race.
While tire degradation will affect all competitors equally, the strategic use of four-wheel drive Attack Mode could be the key differentiator in determining race outcomes.
