Rolex 24: WTR Cadillac Claims Lead in Dramatic 10th Hour Battle

The No.10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R has taken the lead in the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona with 14 hours remaining. Filipe Albuquerque secured the position after a decisive move past the No.31 Whelen Action Express Cadillac during a restart.

Earlier, the No.31 Whelen Cadillac had claimed the lead from Nick Tandy's No.7 Porsche through aggressive braking at pit entry. Following driver changes, Fred Vesti emerged with an 18-second advantage in the No.31.

Current standings show Philipp Eng's No.24 RLL BMW in second, with the No.6 Penske Porsche third. The Meyer Shank No.60 Acura holds fifth position. Notable incidents include brake changes for both M Hybrid V8s and the No.25 RLL BMW falling two laps behind.

In LMP2, AO Racing ORECA maintains the lead, with Christian Rasmussen showing consistent pace. Crowdstrike by APR ORECA follows in second, and the No.88 AF Corse 07 holds third.

GTD class saw multiple incidents:

  • DragonSpeed Ferrari's Thomas Neubauer made contact with barriers but continued
  • DXDT Corvette's Salih Yoluc spun but recovered
  • Paul Miller BMW M4 GT3 EVO remains 40+ laps down after earlier collision

GTD PRO is led by Nicky Catsburg in the No.4 Corvette, closely followed by Sebastian Priaux in the No.64 Multimatic Mustang. The Heart of Racing Aston Martin, with Zacharie Robichon at the wheel, leads the GTD class.

Final lap changes saw Phillipp Eng take overall lead after Vesti's slow restart in the No.31 Cadillac, with Albuquerque's No.10 Cadillac securing second and Kevin Estre moving to third.
