The RB21 represents an evolution of Red Bull's dominant ground effect car design, which has helped Verstappen claim three titles since 2022, following his initial championship in 2021.

Despite winning seven of the first ten races in 2024, Red Bull faced challenges in the latter half of the season, with Verstappen experiencing a ten-race winless streak. The team recovered with two victories in the final four races.

Verstappen expressed cautious optimism about the new car: "We understand where the issues were coming from, and now it's about adding a better balance to the car. Only time will tell how much we have found."

The RB21 marks a significant transition as it's the first car developed without Adrian Newey, who left for Aston Martin after nearly 20 years with Red Bull. Technical Director Pierre Wache continues to lead the technical team.

Both Verstappen and new teammate Liam Lawson will test the RB21 during the initial shakedown in Bahrain, sharing the track with Mercedes and Williams before pre-season testing begins on Wednesday.

Verstappen welcomes potential closer competition, stating: "It's good for the sport. I hope it's exciting and that we get a lot of different winners and teams. That would be great for the sport."
