"If we can cap it off with the world constructors' championship this weekend, that would be the icing on the cake," says Piastri, who takes pride in joining McLaren's prestigious lineup of champions including Hunt, Lauda, Prost, Senna, and Hamilton.

The Australian driver reflects positively on his sophomore season: "Compared to last season, we've taken a nice step forward as a team. I've got a couple of wins and a lot of podiums, so it has been a hell of a lot of fun."

Despite the demanding schedule and extensive travel, Piastri remains focused on his ultimate goal: "I'm here because I want to win races and become a world champion. When you're fighting right at the front, it makes being motivated very easy."

The 2024 season has featured intense competition, with more than seven drivers securing multiple race wins. Piastri emphasizes the importance of preparation and teamwork: "Working together with the team to get the best combination of driver and car is very important."

Looking ahead to 2025, Piastri aims to compete for both world championships while focusing on improving his qualifying performance: "I've made too many races too difficult for myself in qualifying. If I can tidy that up and start higher up in most races, that would make life easier."
